IEM Rio 2023 Group Stage Seeding Announced

On the evening of April 4th, the organizers of the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023 announced the seeding for the group stage. The 16 participants of the tournament are divided into 2 groups.

Group A: Heroic, 9INE, BIG, MOUZ, Virtus.pro, Ninjas in Pyjamas, The MongolZ, Natus Vincere.

Group B: FaZe Clan, 9z Team, FURIA Esports, Fnatic, Team Vitality, OG, MIBR, Cloud9.

The format of the groups is double elimination GSL. The opening group matches are best-of-1, the following matches are best-of-3. Group winners start the playoffs with semifinals, second place teams advance to the quarterfinals as high seeds and third place teams advance to the quarterfinals as low seeds. The rest of the participants will be eliminated from the tournament.

The playoff format will be a single- elimination bracket with the quarterfinals and semifinals being best-of-3 and the grand final being best-of-5.

The total tournament prize pool is $250,000. The winner of the IEM Rio 2023 will also receive an invitation to the IEM Cologne 2023.
