Valve Discontinues DPC for the Upcoming Season
Valve Corporation has announced changes to the competitive season of Dota 2.
Specifically, the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) system with regional leagues, divided into two divisions for each region, will no longer be in operation. This system was first introduced in 2017 and has undergone several revisions since then.
Valve also noted that the DPC system made Dota 2 less exciting and enjoyable, leading to the decision to change the system.
The exact format of the next competitive season will be announced later. However, the company has already stated that the change in the competitive landscape will benefit third-party tournament operators and increase competition. It has also been officially confirmed that The International will take place in 2024.
