LEC Summer 2022 to be Held with Live Audience
RIOT Games have announced that the entire summer split of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will be played with live audience – for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. The company made the decision based on their successful experience with allowing the fans to attend the 2020 Spring Split Finals.
The fans will be allowed to attend the Berlin’s studio during all of the league’s matches – five series per a game day. Each ticket goes for €12, with no ability to purchase a ticket for the entire weekend. The attendants will be required to wear masks at all times, except when eating or drinking. The tickets go live later today at 16:00 CEST at the Eventbrite website.
LEC Summer 2022 is scheduled to start on June 17th and will feature a traditional prize pool of €200,000. The event will begin with a group stage, where eighteen teams will compete in a single group with double round-robin format and best-of-one matches. The best six teams will advance to a double-elimination playoffs, where three winners will qualify for World Championship 2022.
