The Spanish organization G2 Esports has announced that the majority of their League of Legends players and staff have been tested positive for COVID-19. The team will continue participating in LEC, but will avoid using player cameras and participating in interviews. Currently all players are self-isolated in separate rooms.

Earlier last weekend the team played their first matches within the group stage of LEC Spring 2022 – they started by defeating to Excel Esports and Astralis, however later lost to MAD Lions. The team is pleased with these results, considering their not ideal condition. This weekend they will face SK (Jan 21, 7:00 PM UK time) and Vitality (Jan 22, 8:00 PM).

The European spring split started on January 14th. Earlier this month RIOT Games revealed that the league will be played remotely, at least the first few weeks of it. Initially the event was planned to be held in a studio format in Berlin, Germany. However, currently the country experiences a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases. There are reports that several other LEC teams are also dealing with COVID-19.
