PGL Major Antwerp: G2 and Vitality are First to Advance to the Legends Stage
G2 Esports and Team Vitality have become the first teams to advance to the second stage of PGL Antwerp 2022, as both teams have won their first three matches. G2, who earlier defeated Liquid and Spirit, yesterday managed to beat ENCE with a 2-1 score. Meanwhile Vitality outplayed forZe (2-1) in their third match, while earlier also had defeated Complexity and Astralis.
Yesterday the event also saw two teams – Renegades and 9z Team – being eliminated from the competition: RNG were defeated by IHC (0-2), while 9z lost to Liquid (0-2). The eliminated teams placed last at the major and received no prize money.
Today the event will feature six matches of the fourth round – the teams with the 2-1 score will compete for another three places in the Legends stage, while the losers of the 1-2 series will be eliminated. The schedule is as follows (UK time):
2-1 score matches:
- 11:00 AM – Spirit vs Astralis
- 2:45 PM – forZe vs Outsiders
- 6:30 PM – ENCE vs BNE
1-2 score matches:
- 11:00 AM – Imperial vs IHC
- 2:45 PM – COL vs Liquid
- 6:30 PM – EF vs MIBR
Overall the Challengers Stage will determine eight teams to advance to the next Legends stage, where they will face the leaders of the RMR-events, among which are Heroic, CPHF, BIG, Cloud9, FURIA, FaZe, NiP and NAVI.
PGL Major Antwerp 2022 takes place in Belgium and features a $1,000,000 prize pool. The tournament will conclude at Antwerps Sportpaleis on May 22nd, with its winner claiming half of the prize money.
